You’ll notice that none of the quotes below have author’s names attached to them. That’s because these testimonials came from the consumer-based, “word of mouth” websites – Angie’s List and Service Magic. On these sites, our clients filed anonymous reports of their own free will and shared with the world what they thought of working with us at Hearthstone – good, bad, or indifferent. We had no control over what our clients published, which we think makes these statements even more powerful. You be the judge…

“Our home has an open floor plan that defeated our attempts to come up with a design. Kirstin came over and talked with us about our tastes and how we used the space. She took photos and measurements and in a few days was back with suggestions that led to a wonderful makeover for our living spaces. Kirstin was a great in lining up vendors to deliver her vision for our home. At one point she called all over Portland to locate the granite for our counters when the original supplier ran short. This extra effort kept our project on track and is indicative of Kirstin's professionalism and commitment.”

“Working with Kirstin was a pleasure and she had lots of good ideas and suggestions and was responsive to all of my questions. I would never have the beautiful drapes without her assistance with fabrics and colors. I am not creative and have a difficult time "seeing" how things will look without actually having them in front of me, so I was looking for someone to help me with that "seeing. Kirstin definitely did that…”

Kirstin really put my nerves at ease. She was not critical or judgmental. She came to find out what I needed and to see if she could help. I wanted an overall plan for my family room, to know what would work for furniture and how to go about starting the project. On her first visit, she mainly listened and took notes, as well as pictures. I explained what my fears were, what I was discouraged about, what I wanted, what I liked and what I wanted the room to feel like. She asked questions and listened more. When she came back, she had nailed my objectives and put them into an order I could focus on. She had 3-D images of the plan she put together along with the range of sizes for the furniture. What really surprised me was that one chair and one sofa that she included were both ones that I had previously selected as my favorites at a local furniture store. This told me that she listened carefully and was tuned in to what I really wanted. Now I have a complete plan to work from and I'm not confused about exactly what to focus on, and I'm not in danger of spending money on things that won't work in the room. I was not looking for the cheapest consultant, but for someone who could really discover my tastes and not insert his or her own tastes. Kirstin definitely fulfilled that. I definitely got my money's worth and would do it again in a heartbeat. The quality of her work was my highest priority. In the end, I got exactly what I wanted, more than I had hoped for, and saved myself tons of time and money.”

“Kirstin did a wonderful job! Without her outstanding expertise, excellent sense of color and style, and strong professionalism, I wouldn’t have attempted such a large remodel project. I have a modest 4 bedroom, 2.5-bath house that was built in 1991. Kirstin selected all the materials and recommended contractors to remodel the kitchen and family room. This included a new porcelain tile floor, new appliances, refinished cabinets, and quartz countertops with an undermount sink. The remodel also included new laminate floors in the entry hall, the downstairs bedroom that I use as an office, the living room, dining room, half-bath, and laundry room. The entire first floor was painted (walls and ceilings) and new window treatments were installed. Kirstin did a marvelous job throughout the entire project. She tightly scheduled the contractors so that the work, which started on January 2nd was completed in March. Amazingly, they all came on the date scheduled and even at the scheduled time. As a result, I was able to have furniture moved from room to room, and junk hauled off as the work progressed so I didn’t have to move out of the house. All the work was of high quality and only a few minor items needed to be corrected which the contractors did promptly. Kirstin is very conscious of cost and recommended several savings such as refinishing the cabinets instead of replacing them. She also was very sensitive to my tastes and life style (I have a spoiled dog). Kirstin s knowledge and skill with color is extraordinary. My house has always had lots of light, and I was concerned about a darkened interior. I was delighted to see that her color choices modernized and softened the walls and floors without loss of illumination. I also really appreciated Kirstin’s patience and her quick response to my questions and concerns.”

“Kirstin, is so easy to work with. She really listens to what ideas you have, and then translates that into what you actually mean. She was right-on with colors, ideas, suggestions, arrangements. We were very fortunate in finding her service. Kirstin is an absolute must to all home projects. In the end, she saved us bundles with her ideas. And what's really incredible- both myself and my husband really liked her ideas, where in the past we couldn't agree on anything.”

“Kirstin helped locate tile and carpeting to meet our desired style and expectations. She was more than willing to meet me at any location to look at styles or would pick them up and bring them to our house. She does not pressure you into making a quick decision, but rather lets you take the time to make sure you are happy with your decision. The contractors she located were experts and worked very hard to complete the job on time and correctly. We are very pleased with the outcome of the replaced tile and carpeting.
