This master bathroom was located
in the same house as “Corey’s Kitchen” in our Portfolio.
The story was very similar – huge amount of space (500
square feet) but our clients wanted it to feel cozy.
Some of the requirements were: a) to give the husband
and wife their own large vanities, b) center a clawfoot
tub in front of the large picture window, c) include a
full service coffee bar, d) include a 48 square foot
walk-in shower, and e) use a travertine floor. Other
than that, we were turned loose to figure out the rest.
Many of the same design principles
from the kitchen, regarding balance, applied here as
well. We came up with a color palette of creamy whites,
bluish-grays, and warm beiges. We varied the textures by
using the worn look of travertine in conjunction with
shiny ceramic and glass tiles in the backsplash. With
the gorgeous color of the travertine floors, we offered
some contrast by using creamy white wainscot all around
the room with the subtle blue-gray wall color (gotta
love Devine Paint’s “Almond”). While watching the paint
being applied, our clients were really unsure about it
since none of the other pieces had been implemented. But
we assured them that it was only one piece of the
puzzle. By the time everything was in place, they
commented how right we had been and that they were glad
they had listened to us. That’s why we’re the
professionals!
