This lovely home office space hadn’t always been so
efficient and orderly. When our clients hired us this office
space was piled high with tables, files, and photographs of
their four children. They desperately wanted a space where
only adults were allowed, for relaxing or reading with a cup
of tea.
Before any decorating could happen we helped our clients
analyze the office contents and figured out how to store
everything in an intuitive but accessible fashion. Next, we
incorporated the existing warm yellow paint and fiery red
and gold wallpaper with the sheer window treatments into our
new ‘library’ feel. In an attempt to not compete with the
wallpaper pattern, we brought in a simple round
floral-and-vine area rug to ground our seating area. Then we
had two wing back chairs with ottomans custom made in an
earthy olive green pattern. We refined the bookshelves with
both new accessories and existing pieces from around the
home. The finished room looked like it had been designed
simultaneously and our clients were so excited to have their
own space that it has stayed a kid-free-zone ever since.
