Sandra’s Living Room
So how do you incorporate a sitting room, TV-viewing (with a 52-inch screen), office space fully equipped with computers and printers comfortably in a 14’x15’ sized room? Good question! This was the challenge presented to us by our next client. She already had her favorite chair (a gigantic overstuffed lounger), the brand new television (“Gee… it looked WAY smaller on the showroom floor! But I’m stuck with it now so make it work.”) and a few side tables. So we played around with multiple ideas including thoughts of “re-purposing” some other areas in the house to take the pressure off this family room. We devised a plan for Sandra that would make her room feel cozy and comfortable without being claustrophobic. It was one of the bigger space planning challenges we’d had in a while, but smaller space living is a very true reality for many of our clients. So we keep coming up with new ways to multi-purpose pieces of furniture and use vertical wall space to its maximum capacity so that spaces can stay fully functional but aesthetically pleasing.
